‘AN ANNUAL FESTIVAL CELEBRATING WELLINGTON MUSICIANS, MAORI MUSIC MONTH, NEW MUSIC RELEASE’
WAKA is Wellington’s latest annual festival to celebrate musicians in the Capital City. The kaupapa is best described as a Vessel to showcase emerging talent, new music and to support Maori Music Month.
New music releases from Amba Holly, Sianne, Solway and Grove Roots will see a showcase of solo and acoustic sets with a mix of full band performances performing originals and covers with a twist.
The night will kick off incorporating live music with taonga puoro from Alistair Fraser, instrumental set from Soundscape, acoustic soul with Sophie Ani, and a reggae, rnb hip hop showcase with some of NZs finest, Awa (Nesian Mystik), Tyna Keelan, Bennet Pomana (Dam Native/UHP), Tuari Dawson, Mr Lyrikah and Shogun from The Footsouljahz with DJ No L on the hosting duties.
Waka is supported by local Wellington radio stations, Atiawa Toa FM, Te Upoko o te Ika Radio, Sweet Sounz Online Radio, and Nui FM.
